Some Stipend Questions and Answers:

Q:  I'm applying to the School of Social Work? Can I apply for a Scholarship?
A;  Yes, you may apply for a Scholarship if you are applying to the School of Social Work. If awarded, the actual award would be contingent   upon your acceptance into the School and your actual enrollment as a full-time student.

Q:  If I receive a scholarship, must I  be a health specialization student?
A:  Yes.

Q:  If I receive a scholarship must I be a child, adolescent and family health subspecialization student?
A:  Yes.

Q:  How long are scholarships awarded?
A:  Scholarships are awarded for one year.

Q:  If I receive a Leadership Development Scholarship, may I work during the academic year?
A:  Yes. However, given the demand of this program on a student’s time, working is discouraged.

Q:  If I receive a Leadership Development Scholarship, may I obtain a student loan?
A:  Yes, you may apply for and receive a student loan, assuming you meet the loan eligibility criteria.

Q:  If I receive a Leadership Development Scholarship, are there any reasons that would prevent me from accepting this award?
A:  You may accept this award as long as you are not receiving any other form of aid from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

Q:  If I receive a Leadership Development Scholarship am I required to work in the maternal and child health field after graduation?
A:  No, there is no "pay-back" requirement if a student does not work in the maternal and child health field after receiving the MSW. However, acceptance of the scholarship implies an ethical commitment to a career in maternal and child health/child, youth and maternal health.
