Qiana Cryer

Qiana R. Cryer is currently pursing a Masters degree from the University of Maryland, School of Social Work. Qiana is a clinical concentrator with a specialization in Health and a sub specialization in Child, Adolescent and Family Health.

A graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, Qiana has a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Hispanic Studies. While attending Illinois Wesleyan, Qiana worked as a research assistant in the department of Psychology contributing to several projects from question formation to conference presentation. In addition, Qiana worked as a substance abuse residential counselor on the adolescent female unit at Chestnut Health Systems in Bloomington, IL. Qiana currently works as a case manager at Family Connections/Grandparent Family Connections, a community-based, non-profit program, affiliated with the University Of Maryland School Of Social Work. Here she provides home-based social work services to low-income families residing in West Baltimore who are having difficulty meeting their children’s needs.Qiana looks forward to beginning her advanced field placement in the Department of Psychiatry- Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse at the University of Maryland Medical System for the 2007-08 academic year.

After completing her studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in the spring of 2008, Qiana plans to pursue a doctorate degree with research interest in the health and mental health outcomes of families engaged in formal and informal kinship care.
