Briana Quinlan

Briana transferred to the University of Maryland Baltimore and started the Social Work program at the end of May 2007. She has a clinical concentration with a health specialization and a sub-specialization in child, adolescent, and family health. Briana anticipates graduating in May 2008. Briana graduated from Salisbury University in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

Briana will be completing her field placement at Kennedy Krieger Institute on the Neurobehavioral Unit where she will work with children with developmental disabilities who are self-injurious, aggressive and display other severe behaviors. Her previous social work experience includes interning as a resource coordinator with the Wicomico County Developmental Disabilities Administration where she worked on multiple interdisciplinary teams to ensure that the preferences and needs of individuals with disabilities were being met. Prior to beginning her graduate studies, Briana provided clinical supervision in a variety of settings for 4 years. She also provided residential hospice care to her maternal cousins for several summers before beginning her undergraduate studies.

Upon graduation, Briana looks forward to continue her work with children and families and the community at large.  As evidenced in Briana's personal and work experiences, she wishes to continue to learn and grow and while providing guidance and resources to families and children in need. Her long-term goals include becoming an international volunteer so that she can travel to underdeveloped countries and apply her relevant skills and knowledge in the areas of maternal and child health.
